PQRS Glint and Glare Analysis

This tool shows when sunlight bouncing off a solar plant can be seen from a tower, a cockpit, a road, or a building — and how strong that flash is.

When it can happen through the year
Who can see it (tower cab, approach path, road, or a viewpoint you place)
How serious it is for the eye (green / yellow / red), using FAA 2021 and similar aviation rules

Pick a tool, then click the map.

A simple order: find the site → get ground height → draw the panels → how they sit → who might see the glare → run.

1. Find the site — drag the map, search an address, or type lat/lon. The blue Site Reference Point only needs to be near the project.

Find address

Latitude Longitude

2. Ground elevation (m ASL)

Get the ground height above sea level (public elevation data). Heights in the analysis are that ground level plus how high the panels, eye, or tower cab sit above the ground.

Site reference ground (m ASL)

No DEM yet — heights are AGL only (flat relative ground).

3–5. Draw each plant footprint, then set how that array sits: the mounting plane, module angles, and corner heights (pick an array in the list to edit it).

3. Arrays

Array area: —

Vertices: 0 (need ≥3, then lock shape)

4. Mounting plane (active array)

Orientation of the mounting surface used for vertex heights (LOW → HIGH on the map). For flat ground-mount, leave pitch at 0 so every corner stays at the base AGL. This is not module tilt — set module tilt under §5.

Array plane pitch (°) High-edge bearing (° N CW)

Flat plane — use base height below for all corners, or edit each vertex.

5. Module angles (active array · glare optics)

Tilt and azimuth of the PV modules — required for the glare calculation. Set per array; each array can differ.

Module tilt (°) Module azimuth (° N CW)

Vertex heights (active array)

Set base height above ground, then optionally type a different AGL for each numbered corner (map badges 1, 2, 3…). Changing plane pitch / base height recalculates all corners from the plane.

Base / low-edge height (m AGL)

OP eye height for next click (m AGL)

Set the eye height, then click the map to place the person or viewpoint.

ATCT cab height for next click (m AGL)

Set the cab height, then click the map to place the control tower.

After placing, edit heights in the list below — that value is what the analysis uses.

Placed receptors

Click 1 on runway centreline, click 2 at the threshold. A 2‑mile approach is auto-extended (standard 3° glide, 50 ft TCH).

Flight paths: none
